I bought my PS3 over 4 years ago. A 40GB model that I've never once cleaned, not realizing that that's something that needed to be done. Well, a few weeks ago, my PS3 was having trouble reading games, but not anything else. And the discs rotated while in the Playstation, so I knew it wasn't a laser issue. And then it stopped reading the games altogether.

So, we ordered a lens cleaner with "wind technology" and that did not work at all. Not even after 10 times of running it. My dad and I ended up taking some of the Playstation apart and cleaning it that way, but we couldn't get to the lens to clean it and we didn't want to risk breaking it. So, I then ordered this product with the brushes and stuff. After about 10-15 times running it through, my system reads the games with no problem, as if it were brand new!

I purchased this PS3 lens cleaner for preventive maintenance purposes. I believe that cleaning my PS3 with this lens cleaner will prolong the life of my system. In addition to cleaning your lens, the disc also has a audio/visual calibration system built in. So if your surround sound or picture is a little off while playing games or watching blu-ray discs this may help. I have not used the calibration system personally, as my sound and picture are superb.

I purchased this product because blu ray movies were stuttering and freezing during playback on my PS3. Using this product did not resolve the problem. Following one of the many videos found freely online, I then decided to open my PS3 (long out of warranty) and clean the laser lens with a q-tip and rubbing alcohol. This finally resolved my playback issues! You might consider this free option before investing in this product.
